The Magical Marriage: why some people go off sex after eighteen months
By Juliet Grayson. Published in HealthyNewAge Volume 2 June 2016
This article shows an aspect of Pesso Boyden System Psychotherapy, called a ‘magical marriage’, which can exist between a child and their parent. In the magical marriage, the parent relies on the child (consciously or unconsciously) – OR – the child feels in some way responsible for the parent. It is a ‘symbolic’ marriage, and obviously not a literal marriage. The child is a kind of surrogate spouse, and the child may be filling an emotional void for their mother or father, or they may be (in certain ways) treating each other like partners. There is no sexual contact or inappropriate physical touch, but the relationship is emotionally incestuous.

Healing in the Boardroom: A trainer in Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor (PBSP) body-based psychotherapy
Juliet Grayson, explains how PBSP works and why accessing our hidden emotional processes, using the PBSP concept of ‘principals’. Principles are the associations that we are making between someone in our lives now and a person with similar behaviours from our past. By working with principles we can transform relationships. The description in this article is based around a relationship at work, but the same method works with intimate relationships. Published in the BACP magazine Counselling At Work, Issue 87 Winter 2015 pp 20-26.
